Many of my students have increased anxiety due to the pandemic, distance learning, wearing masks, hearing talk of illness, etc. These items including alphabet & number circle time rug, musical marbles, super space sand, & the alpaca puppet will assist me in addressing these new social norms with lessons on personal space, how to wait for a turn, how to have a meaningful conversation, how to properly express your feelings, and so much more. The educational resources (sight word sentences, word building, prepositional words, and I'm in Control book set will be used for addressing students individualized goals for communication, language, and social skills. These are all skills they need in order to participate and progress in the general education classroom. Experiences including but not limited to parallel play, meaningful conversation exchanges, dramatic play, word play, and guided reading help to support and encourage communication. In our classroom we provide opportunities for building skills such as sharing, turn taking, making friends, teamwork, and asking for help.
Our goals are to provide each and every student with the skills they need to be as independent and functional as possible. We believe that EVERY student can communicate appropriately and effectively when provided with the right tools.
