Reading, reading, reading! Kindergarten is an essential year for students learning to read. It is what begins their journey to exploring and learning more about the world. There are many tools necessary for teaching students to read, and one of them is a book bin. Book bins are used daily in my classroom. This is where my students house their books for readers workshop, as well as materials we use for writing, science, and social studies. Not only do they help to keep our classroom organized and comfortable for students, but they also help to teach my kindergartners responsibility. They are in charge of keeping their materials organized in these bins and easily accessible. The book bins we have in my classroom have pieces broken off, and are becoming discolored. I would like to be able to provide my students with clean, and safe book bins that they take pride in taking care of. My students make huge growth as readers during the year they are with me. These book bins allow them to move easily around the classroom with their books, helping them to create a relaxing reading spot.
