By replacing boring, disengaging worksheets with morning tubs for morning work, students will come in feeling excited, engaged, and ready to start the day. 1st graders should be engaged to create, explore, play, and socialize. Morning tubs encourage social skills like cooperation, sharing, and problem-solving. The morning tubs will start each day with exciting, hands-on learning. The letter and word building cubes and foam letters encourage alphabet and phonetic awareness. I picked out two different letter and word building cubes for differentiation purposes, one just letters and the other set including blends and digraphs. The magnetic blocks, pattern blocks, and color cube cards will engage students with STEM challenges. I'm looking forward to throw away the boring worksheets and engage students in these morning tubs!
