Book clubs about strong characters who change will serve as great discussion starters for my middle school students. They too are undergoing great changes in their lives. Having a shared experience and connection to other readers will help my students to navigate through this difficult time period in their lives and realize that there are many reasons to welcome change and growth as individuals. These book club novels will inspire my students to think beyond their own situations and make connections to other cultures and individuals. They will spark discussion about universal themes and illustrate that sometimes our biggest challenges are the ones that shape our future.
