My students do not have access to books at home. Their parents struggle to put food on the table so buying books is not a priority. I want to make books accessible to all students so that they can discover the love of books.
All books will be used in our classroom library for students to self-select books they are interested in reading. The goal is for each student to read 40 books this year from a variety of genres. This will help to develop a rich vocabulary and expand their literacy understanding. It will also allow them to the discovery of the types of books they like to read.
