The students in my ESL kindergarten classroom face many challenges. Our school is located in a diverse neighborhood in a large city. Most children receive free or reduced price lunch. In addition to poverty, students come from households where a language other than English is spoken. The families come from many places around the world including Iraq, Mexico, Liberia, Myanmar, Puerto Rico, Viet Nam, India, and Equador.
