I would like to offer a more diverse method of delivering instruction, while engaging my kindergarten students. iPads can be influential in helping to inspire a lifetime of reading and learning through interactive and engaging lessons. There are so many possibilities for creative projects and activities. I would love to expose my students to digital storytelling, where students read a story and then come up with their own version of the story. This would encourage students to feel proud of what they have accomplished, while they develop a love for learning.
Exposing children to technology at a young age is so important! Our world is their future. iPads also allow student to explore so many valuable math apps. Some of these apps have the option for students to play in groups, which instills skills like collaboration and critical thinking.
Because most of our students do not have access to home computers, I feel that the everyday exposure in our classroom would be very beneficial. Our class currently is given one hour on a set of iPads that are shared by the school. This is not enough time to support students who may need extra help in literacy or math. Having an iPad available for these students would allow me to supplement my lessons with engaging activities. These activities would offer the support that is so needed by some of my students.
