Shake, rattle, and roll! Kids need to move! The 22 diverse students in our first grade inclusion classroom are energetic and eager to learn! They would benefit from choices on where to sit and how to complete their work. Flexible seating offers them this as well as creating a sense of community and teamwork by having them share these wobble cushions, bean bag, and balance ball seats.
Flexible seating also provides a sensory input that can help students focus and process information. It is comfortable and fun! Students will be more engaged and take more ownership of their learning.
Flexible seating does not only benefit those students with special needs but all first graders and I'm excited to see them "hit it outta the park" with all they will learn and do this year.
