I am transitioning into a high school chemistry and physics classroom that had little in terms of organization or supply. These materials are essential for every unit I am teaching to all 160 students in chemistry, and physics. My instruction is focused on an inquiry-based methodology that leads to a lot of student-produced work - posters, visualizations all students historical scientific timelines, cosmological calendars, personality cubes, Freyer model notes, etc. The supplies in this order will allow the creation of 10 student supply kits containing markers, colored pencils, scissors, tape, glue, and the like. Upon completion of our lessons, students will use these kits within a group to demonstrate their knowledge by producing a deliverable designed to standard. Administratively, I am assisting a large undertaking in establishing common labs and common assessments within our department. As a Social Justice Reform Instructor, I am focused on organizing applied chemical and physics-based specific labs, that include the student-led process of design procedures, in order to distribute them to the 5 other chemistry teachers in our school. The organizational equipment in this order will enable this project to move forward by providing the materials needed for these bins as well as enhancing the technological accessibility for my students and my classroom.
