Our classroom needs a class carpet! It is essential for our class community because it will provide a common space for students to come together as a community of learners. The carpet is a space where students can unite together as a class, in groups, or even independently for flexible seating.
My school believes in restorative practices/ morning circles and this would provide my students with a space to congregate together. While a carpet in a classroom may seem like something minor or non-essential, it truly is a space where the classroom comes together. It is a place where students can feel safe, they can learn, build relationships, and it becomes one of the central locations of the classroom. A classroom carpet would benefit our learning community greatly!
