There is no doubt that having a classroom full of students means having different sets of learning styles and abilities, but the one thing all students have in common, is their love of technology. With the use of this iPad, my goal is to target all of my students at once with just a few swipes on a screen. I will be able to create anchor charts for my lessons and go back and forth between eBooks, audio, videos, research on the internet and annotate texts. Students will be engaged and will become active learners because they will be able to use the iPad during lessons as well, regardless of their abilities and learning styles.
This iPad will become a powerful tool in our classroom that will help me prepare students for an ever-changing world. Students are already given access to the powerful tool of language in this dual immersion classroom. This iPad will give students access to many Spanish resources. Students will use apps that will facilitate learning a new language because they will learn vocabulary, see images and hear audio in Spanish. With an iPad, students will access our language arts curriculum to read stories and annotate the text, which may seem daunting to a first grader, but with an iPad, it becomes fun and engaging. During math, we will use the iPad for apps to help students solve word problems and use tools, like number lines and tens-frames, and enhance their critical thinking skills.
As a teacher, it is my job to ensure that my students are learning and meeting their individual goals. The way students learn is always changing and I need to change how I teach to meet my students’ needs. With this iPad, I will be able to prepare students for an ever-changing world.
