I work with special education students that need a break many times during the day. The sensory room allows that opportunity for our students.
Students choose how they use the sensory room based on their needs. They choose between movement break, quiet break, calming break, etc. We use yoga balls for bouncing, rainbow mats for hitting or cocooning in. This new space has more lights so the light filters will help with our students who become overly sensitized. Helping to add to our sensory room allows our students more options!
We have been working hard for our students to identify what is helpful for them based on their needs at that time. This room gives them the independence to find resources that can help them to be successful!
