We all know that students learn best when they have hands-on materials to use. My students are no exception.
By making and using beaded number lines, students will have a better understanding of place value, rounding, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. The beaded number line will serve as the concrete model that my students need to really grasp all these concepts. They will help them transition to the representational model so they can draw and represent their thinking with pictures. After that, they will help my students give meaning to the abstract algorithms and why they work.
My students and I greatly appreciate any help you can give us!
