My students come from very distinct homes. My students live in a farming community and we are a school with limited resources. Along with the school, our community is also very limited on resources, nearly half the population live below the poverty line. I have students who do not have access to internet at home, students who live at camps, and students that are in single parent or guardian homes. Majority of my students are English Learners. My classroom is a safe environment for all my students. My students are 95% bilingual, some speak Spanish, Arabic, and dialect. My students are able to relate to me because I too grew up in this community and I am well aware of all the obstacles we could face. My classroom is a constant reminder that all my students are very bright and they could be successful as long as they put in the effort.
