The Chromebooks we are hoping to get will transform our Social Science classroom!
My goal as an educator has always been simple- to help my learners become stronger readers, writers, and most importantly, critical and compassionate THINKERS.
I live for my students' light bulb moments. Those seconds when everything seems to click- a student makes a major connection, comes up with a completely unique idea and most importantly, he or she feels confidence in and sees value in their voice.
My 12th year of teaching brings me to the AUL, a small alternative school that focuses on Project Based Learning, 21st Century Leadership Skills and real-world projects and presentations of learning. The Chromebooks will become our link for collaborative and real world inquiry, research, data analysis, social justice activism, and bringing projects to their complete fruition in public presentations.
Our work this school year will push boundaries as we analyze the events, people and ideas that have brought us to our current society. We will investigate conventional wisdom and challenge traditions that mentally and physically harm vulnerable communities. We will examine solutions and through our projects, become active and empathetic citizens.
