Students will gain hands on experience in measuring, reading recipes and cooking. We’ll learn how to use the dry and wet measuring cups, cook eggs using indoor burners, and having all of this equipment, including a refrigerator will enable to do the work in the classroom.
They will gain self sufficiency and confidence as they learn how to make basic dishes for their families. Teamwork is emphasized as the students gain skills working in groups of 4. The five sets of materials allows us to break up into groups small enough for students to engage in the work.
We will share recipes of the different cultures represented in the class to learn more about each other as well.
The third graders in subsequent years will follow a similar curriculum so these material will be used for years to come!
