Books aren’t just for English Language Arts classrooms. A music library serves multiple purposes. It not only supports English language arts, it supports music history, music cultures around the world and careers in music. Books also support musical skills with rhyming activities, movement activities, timbre and singing activities.
Reading to children provides an opportunity to show them how interesting books are. It is important to read high-quality literature to develop students' expression. Reading with appropriate expression brings these stories to life.
The books chosen are based on the great songtales of our heritage and they combine storytelling, poetry, and music into delightful classic songtales that will captivate and delight all children.
The books in this project will be used as a reading/listening center during music class time and also as a closure activity, where all students gather around and listen to the storyteller sing the story using correct expression and feeling.
