Reading is the key to success in 3rd grade. My students are learning to read and also reading to learn. Silent reading is an important activity that will help my students increase their reading skill level. I am requesting several books to add to our library. In my library I have added all my books to an online library. In my project I have asked for a wireless barcode scanner. I plan to have my students use this scanner to check out books from our classroom library. When students check out books from our library in this way, I can use my online library app to see what types of books my students are reading. I can check if students are reading "just right books,鈥 how long it is taking them to read a book, and so much more. This will help me make sure that my students are progressing in their reading development.
