Classroom rugs are a great place for students to gather throughout the day for various activities. By coming to the rug, students are allowed to get out of their seat and move around. Having a large area rug will provide the amount of space needed for all students to sit comfortably during activities. Students are able to use this area as a space for independent reading, partner/group work, whole-group mini-lessons, read-alouds, and much more! A class rug is an inviting space for students to gather with their peers, which helps to foster community in the classroom. Building community in the classroom helps to set a great tone for the learning atmosphere and student interaction. When students are able to come to the carpet, it provides a close, meaningful learning experience for both the students and the teacher.
