This technology will help me record live high definition art lessons without the lag I currently experience and as well as give me the ability to answer questions as I teach. In our first experience of distance learning, the inability to reach students through my limited technology became glaringly obvious. I have a document camera to record drawing lessons but it's very limited in terms of color comprehension and proper light sourcing and it became very complicated to teach and demo simultaneously as my students were used to in the classroom. I am usually able to provide proper support to combat this in the classroom but through distance learning, the disadvantages become distinct.
Introducing the HD Hovercam 10 to the Art Program will allow my students to experience immersive lessons in all levels of art - they will be able to experience accurate, rich colors as they learn how to blend and shade, the videos will be smoother and allow for a seamless learning experience to enhance their learning in class and at home. This will result in a better connection with my students as well as videos the students can revisit to facilitate their art skills and supplement their core academic lessons.
This equipment will also support my school's encompassing approach to the core academic subjects - art and all other subjects support comprehension of core academic lessons through further exploration of the material. I incorporate math, science, social studies and ELA in my lessons through the year as well as teach art skills and knowledge.
