I teach high school students, this age group needs teachers that allow them to make choices and be responsible, flexible seating options are just one way that we show our students that we trust them enough to work where they are the most comfortable. I do not work best at a desk, neither do some of my students. It is important that I be able to offer them places in my classroom where they can work and remain comfortable with a futon, rug, and coffee table. I want my room to be a warm and welcoming environment to help me continue to strengthen the relationships I have with these wonderful young people.
