Children between the ages of five and six learn best and retain more knowledge when they're able to touch, feel, see and hear what they're learning. I requested word building unifix cubes, magnetic letters and counting manipulatives so that students can build words and sentences and use hands on objects to count such as rekenreks.
I have even requested a math calendar in order to teach them number sense and numeric values shown in different ways.
I also requested copy paper and pens so that I may have everything i need in order for them to be successful. The paper will be used to copy decodable books that they can take home and read.
