Students are learning at different paces and are hungry for constant engagement. I want to make transitions between activities or subjects more meaningful by providing student-led learning opportunities through STEM bins. I plan to have the bins readily available for student use and for them to provide various learning abilities with a challenge.
By donating to our project, students will be able to plan, create and think like an inventor! Students will be able to use the STEM bins when they complete their work early, during our free time on Fridays, and any other down time we may have in our day. I also want to use these bins as an incentive for those students that work so hard, but have difficulty finishing early.
The use of these bins may feel like play to students, but they will be doing so much more! Students will choose their own STEM bin that may prompt them to build a bridge out of straws, a boat out of play-doh and toothpicks, or recreate a famous landmark out of building blocks! The options are endless and the choice is theirs! By implementing STEM bins I hope to increase student problem solving stamina, keep them more actively engaged throughout the day, all while exposing them to different science, technology, engineering and math skills. Thank you for any consideration!
