Every week, the Backpack Buddy program provides these students with perishable and non-perishable items to ensure they have nutritious and delicious meals during the weekends, holidays, and breaks when school is closed. The items are sent home in a backpack so the students will not experience any embarrassment due to their circumstances. Your donation will help provide food for the students in households that have been affected by economical hardships. This year we hope the program will reach even more students than previous years. The following items will be used to aid in hygiene for these students in need: toothpaste, chap-stick, toothbrush, body wash, hand sanitizer, and lotion. These students are also in need of school supplies and the following items will be used to support them in school: crayons, earbuds, pencils, and pens. I have several families that donate perishable and nonperishable food items for these families. The refrigerator will be used to house all of the perishable items along with a lock to keep it secure. The following items are used to aid these students in transporting the food items for their families: drawstring backpack bag, and meal containers. The other items on the list will be gifted to these students for Christmas, most of these are clothing items to keep them warm during winter: Beanie hats, socks, crossbody bag, football, and basketball. All of the items I've requested are functional and will serve in aiding the homeless students at our school as well as feeding these families.
