Do you remember being in 5th grade and trying to fit criss-cross applesauce in the carpet area with your growing legs? It sure isn't comfortable. These requested stools will allow my students to all fit together at the carpet in a comfortable way that is more suited for their height. Your donation to our project will allow all my students to circle up around the carpet so we can learn as a community, team, and family. With all my 5th graders on stools, they will be closer to me so I can better engage them in the lesson and manage behavior. The kiddos will also be more focused because they will be more comfortable on stools, allowing them to engage in their learning rather than focusing on their elbows and knees accidentally hitting their friends. Everyday when I ask my students to join me at the carpet, they say "It's not comfortable, can't we use chairs?" However, dragging their chairs to the carpet takes 5 minutes which in an entire school year, robs students of 750 minutes of learning! Your donation will allow students to have a stool ready for them at the carpet which will motivate them to gather and engage quickly. The stools will also allow them to quickly form study groups, reading groups, and partner work. They will also be able to use the stools for choice seating which encourages students to take control of their learning and situate themselves in a way that they learn best. My fifth graders are curious, eager, intelligent kiddos who want to learn. I believe your donation will allow them to focus on their love of learning rather than focusing on their uncomfortable spots on the floor.
