As a first-year teacher, obtaining fundamental and bilingual supplies like a calendar, alphabet, and number line--to name a few--has been very difficult. However, with the help of a gift card from Teachers Pay Teachers, I can continue focusing on creating a structured and safe space while also supporting fellow teachers' work.
The bean bag chairs will serve as part of the future calm corner in an effort to incorporate social-emotional learning. After 1.5 years away from the classroom, emotions have been high and students need to self-regulate. I plan to create a calm corner with resources such as checking their "temperature" and "whale breathing."
The magnetic letter tray set will be the most useful resource because many of my students are really struggling with literacy, especially their phonological awareness. These letters have served me in past guided reading groups for their hands-on and universally designed approach.
