In kindergarten, it is imperative that students participate in morning meetings and read-aloud time. Unfortunately, during this time students are sitting at their tables. They don't have the opportunity to come together and understand what any sense of normalcy is like. Carpet time engages and includes all students while allowing them to feel safe. All students deserve to have this opportunity. It may seem like a simple rug, but to us, it's so much more! It's where we will tell our stories, where we see life in someone else's shoes, and much more.
