A sand and water table is an instrumental part of any Pre-K program and can support the development of so many skills while addressing varied sensory needs. The one provided with my classroom has seen its better days!
By having a new sensory table in our classroom, my students will be able to explore with all of their senses, learn to manipulate materials, strengthen their fine motor skills, and use their five senses to gain information and understand their environment.
Seeing this is a highly preferred workstation, the sensory table will be used daily throughout the school year with each of our different units and will include the use of a variety of materials for them to explore, including sand, water, and rice.
Young children naturally explore their world using their senses and need lots of opportunities for these experiences. These materials will support me in meeting the diverse needs of my learners in a meaningful and multi-sensory way!
