A listening center is very important in a Pre-K classroom! It allows the children to pick a story and follow along as they are listening to it being read to them. It creates independence and allows for practice with book handling skills at a very young age. I truly believe that children learn to love to read when given the opportunity to have stories read to them!
We LOVE to listen to stories in Pre-K and it's even better when we can follow along too! Our classroom library is a place that my kids and I truly love. It is comfy and welcoming. A lot of learning, creativity, imagination, and reading happens there! Tablets will be a way for students to easily listen to the book they select. It is a much faster way than setting up listening tapes or CD players! These two tablets along with the some books (that also have a free audio on an App) to start off will be a wonderful way to kick start this interactive listening center for the students in my classroom!
