Our school has a push towards reading in the wild. We are encouraging students to read as much as possible and read a variety of genres. Reading takes readers to new places and shows them new concepts. Data shows that a stronger reader will do better on academic achievement tests as well as more successful in the real world.
Reading is an important part of daily life. We want to foster a love of reading from an early age. This project will help fund new headphones and a new CD player to incorporate our listening center into daily use. Students use the center to listen to stories and then complete activities to show their understanding. Currently our station malfunctions daily. A new center will allow students to be able to access the stories on their own and allow all students to listen at the same time. This center will continue to be used for years to come as I introduce kids to amazing stories!
