The outdoor learning environment is so important to early childhood education. The students are learning coordination, gross motor, and social skills through play. From sharing during a game of basketball, to encouragement while playing hopscotch, these little ones are learning how to interact with their world.
It is important to provide a wide variety of opportunities for students to experience success! Therefore, these little ones need many different activity choices while playing. They come to school with a wide range of abilities and interests, and we must do our best to meet all of their diverse needs. Providing a wide variety of options as well as multiple options of favorite activities allows many students to benefit from the outdoor playspace.
We will use the basketball goals and basketballs to help develop gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and social skills. The parachutes will be used for group activities and will develop listening and social skills. The balance blocks, balance boards, and stepping stones will help with gross motor development. The baseballs and bats will help develop hand-eye coordination, social, and gross motor skills.
