Many of the students entering into my classroom have had limited exposure to literature and vocabulary. It is my goal through this project to provide them with access to high-quality literature to build reading and listening skills for the students.
Within the classroom, the materials purchased will be used to create a self-directed learning center. At this center, students will be able to utilize the Best-Buy Listening Center to choose which book they want to read to build their comprehension. They will be able to choose from the high quality books included in the classic read-along pack. By listening to a variety of books, students will be exposed to a large number of vocabulary words. Beyond that, students will be able to choose books that catch their attention.
After listening to the story, students will be able to use the Sand and Water table to manipulate materials to create the high frequency words used in the books. The top is needed to help students learn the routine for when the table is available for use.
