In my classroom I have a large library selection for my students to borrow. They each get a book box to keep their books for the week, or longer if needed, to read as they finish early or have independent time because their work is completed.
Reading expands our vocabulary, reduces stress, improves writing skills and provides opportunities for analytical thinking skills all while gaining knowledge.
These books on kindness and acceptance are very important for students to learn empathy, have a great sense of belonging and improved self esteem and create an environment where all students know they belong and can be themselves.
