The students at PTEC generally come from low-income families that are dealing with the many struggles that life throws at them. As a teacher, finding quality material for these students is one burden I would like to alleviate; this isn't always possible with a young and school. In an attempt to enrich students with the wonders of literature and develop critical thinking skills, I would like to be to offer my students a variety of rich literature. These skills will benefit the students in their professions, and interactions in society. The Great Gatsby provides an avenue for this to be accomplished.
