Many of my students come to school hungry and tired. I want to be able to provide them with a welcoming, responsive, and comfortable environment to learn in. The students in my classroom face many obstacles to being successful in school because of the way our school system is set up. They come to school and have to speak in their second language and adapt to cultural and behavioral expectations that do not align with what they do at home. Staying seated at uncomfortable desks is one of the common expectations of school that I would like to do away with in my classroom.
I believe that kids need to move to activate their brains and do their best work. Having wobble stools, wiggle cushions, yoga balls, and other flexible seating options will allow my students to do this. These materials would help me provide a comfortable and accessible learning environment for all of my students.
About my class
