I am a first year teacher looking to build the community in my room. We will have morning meetings where the students will need to come up to the front of the room and sit in a circle on the floor. This can be uncomfortable, especially when there are 20+ kiddos who all have something to say or a story to share. I am hoping to make this time more comfortable by having a rug for them to sit on. Students will also be coming up front to listen to direct instruction. Having them sit on a hard floor may cause some issues with attention span when they start to wiggle because they are uncomfortable.
