We are requesting an Apple MacBook Air. For my technology savvy students, computers provide a powerful tool for synthesizing their learning. In my classroom, my students will be able use the Apple MacBook Air 13.3-Inch Laptop to learn at a deeper level.
For example, third graders write many stories and essays within our school's writing curriculum, but with the Macbook Pro Air, they can extend this learning by using digital applications to publish and illustrate student written books. Another example, when doing Social Studies projects, students can use the Macbook Air's iMovie application to digitally edit together photos and voice overs to produce their own documentaries. Additionally, third graders learn about area and perimeter in math. To gain a deeper understanding conceptual understanding of these concepts, my students can become architects and create digital blueprints on the MacBook Air. The examples above demonstrate how technology such as a MacBook Air can be used to help students think critically, connect to the real word, and learn as 21st Century Learners.
My goal is to help children foster a love for learning at an early age, and to provide learning opportunities that are meaningful and connected to the real world. Technology is a tool that allows children to be innovative, which deepens their understanding of content through practical activities.
