This project is very basic compared to a lot of the ones posted on Ðǿմ«Ã½. While new furniture, computers, and virtual reality headsets are awesome tools to assist student learning, all of that stuff is useless if the students don't have a place to write down their new knowledge or something to write with. As a math teacher, students are required to show their work on paper so we use paper and pencils every single day.
My classroom easily goes through close to 1000 pencils every year. Middle-schoolers (especially in a Title 1 school) have trouble bringing their required materials to class each day which means having to hand out 5-10 pencils a class. Having a large supply of pencils means every student is working and engaged in class.
Copy paper is another material teachers never have enough of. In math, copy paper is used for nearly everything. From scratch paper for showing work, to worksheets and guided notes and making geometric shapes and on and on and on.
