The W.I.N (Whatever I Need) room is a space within the school for ALL students to use when they feel unregulated or not in emotional control. My school serves students preschool through 8th grade. The W.I.N. room uses tools designed to help students recognize and regulate their emotional and sensory state. For example, this can be achieved by using tools such as the Liquid Motion Timer Bubble which provides calming visual stimulation. The DNA Stress Ball provides tactile feedback which can also be soothing. The pinwheels will allow students to see their breath when using breathing exercises.
By donating to this project, you will help our students learn emotional and sensory regulation which in turn will help them be at their best for classroom learning.
A variety of small tools are requested with the hope of targeting most sensory areas (touch, sight, smell and sound). Taste will not be targeted due to allergy concerns. It is my hope that by offering students a variety of tools to choose from they will find the one which works best for them.
