Our music classroom is filled with old equipment. Our music stands are losing their functionality; they tip, they tilt, they fall apart, and sometimes they hold music. Some are in worse shape than others, but the truly old music stands need to be replaced. Our guitar bags are in a similar state of age. Many have torn fabric that exposes the guitar to the elements, and a lot of them have dysfunctional zipper mechanisms that render the case ineffective. Most of our guitars currently sit outside of cases, which makes them easier to damage.
Having new guitar cases and music stands will help keep our guitars in good condition and provide a stable surface for our musicians to set their music. I believe having new and upgraded equipment for our music room will improve the morale of the students and inspire the students to respect the equipment more moving forward. Having a wobbly stand is no fun for anyone, and having a broken guitar case prevents students from taking their guitars home to practice.
