Students in my class are nonverbal and communicate through other modalities: gestures, vocalizations, sign, pictures and with high-tech devices such as voice output buttons. In addition, the majority of multiple disabilities in addition to language impairment: we have students with mobility, vision, hearing and sensory deficits.
The saucer switches will give these students with opportunities to communicate throughout the day by making choices, exploring cause and effect with motivating toys​ and interacting socially with peers and teachers. The communication buttons allow children to push a button in order to select a pre-recorded message. The switches enable children to push buttons that activate items such as interactive toys and music.
