How long can you sit before you begin to lose concentration or you need to move? Imagine being an elementary student with 1/4 of an adult attention span. I have the privilege of moving up with last year's second graders. They are a wonderful, inquisitive, rambunctious, busy, hands-on group of incoming 3rd graders. The items that I have requested for our classroom: chair bands, wobble cushions, and wobble stools, are just a few tools that my students can use to be able to move and groove at their seat, while keeping engaged in the task at hand. If students cannot focus, they cannot learn. If adding a little motion can keep them engaged, calm, and at peace, then why not do it and make sure their physical and emotional needs are met so learning can begin. My shopping cart includes: chair bands to go on the front two legs of each student's chair, wobble cushions, and wobble stools. The chair bands will be able to go on each student's chair so that they can move their feet while staying in their seat and not disturb others. Thank you for your helping in making our third grade classroom a learning, safe, and engaging environment.
