This flexible seating project was created to promote collaborative learning in the classroom, boost engagement, and empower students with choice. Rather than traditional classroom desks and chairs, these seating options will allow students to be more comfortable and productive.
Flexible seating is researched based approach to meet the needs of all learners while fostering community in the classroom. Students learn better when they have the chance to work together. With alternative seating options, students are able to be mobile in the classroom, which will increase collaborative learning experiences.
This will also build classroom community by encouraging students to share spaces and take turns in different locations and with different seating options.
The items in this project include yoga balls, yoga ball chairs, kneeling pads, learning stools, and portable lap desks. These items will allow students to be mobile around the classroom, specifically when completing STEM design challenges.
