We do a lot of working and learning around the room. Giving my students choices in where they sit allows them to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them while giving them a sense of empowerment. The most popular sitting choices are on our classroom rug and spread out around the room on the cold hard floor. Our current classroom rug is gray and is over 10 years old and is falling apart. The new rug we are requesting is a vibrant No Bully rug which conveys an important rule that I have in my room and that is NO BULLYING. Creating a comfortable and cozy learning environment is incredibly important to me and to all of my students. I believe when the children feel comfortable and safe, that is when their best learning occurs.
