This will put a classic novel into the hands and homes of my students. This book is an old classic with many universal themes that are relatable to my students; poverty, family, friendship and love. Having individual copies will allow my students time to read, reread and connect to modern articles, poetry and memoirs. We will utilize this book to develop their writer’s notebooks where they will sketch, write and connect to themselves and the world around them. Students will have time to develop connections that will be shared in small group and whole class discussions. Having books will inspire.
