The goal of this project is to help build out a diverse classroom library for my 9th grade Ethnic Studies classroom! This is the first year our school has offered the course, as well as the first-year it has been a district requirement for graduation. I am hopeful to build in more diverse texts into the classroom library I have, where students are able to check-out books at anytime. I have included a number of graphic novels, which are fantastic literary tools for many of my English Language Learners in particular. I have many eager readers, as well as more reluctant readers. My hope is to provide culturally relevant novels for them all to access, which include characters in which they see themselves.
