The students that are in my building come from all over the county. Often riding on the bus from their home districts for sometimes an hour or more. We service sixth through twelfth grades with our primary goal to transition them back to their home schools.
As the school counselor of a small alternative school I see, and am involved in all of the students' day from the moment they walk in the door to the moment they walk out again. I try and create a positive atmosphere in the school and in my room. I try my best to relate to them so they are interested and willing to come and see me if they are having any problems in or out of school. I work hard to provide any resources they may need from food, to a place to work on homework or job applications, to washing clothes if they are in need of something like that.
