I will use the book The Tiger Rising for my literature study. This book is a rich piece of literature that is a 4th grade level book aligning with the Common Core state standards. My students will use this book throughout the whole year to learn different element of literature. It is ideal for every students to have a copy of the book to take charge of their own learning and reflection.
Changing my classroom to flexible seating will allow my students to take charge of their learning and make my literature study time more comfortable so my students will focus better. The goal is to allow my students to sit in various places in the room during literacy and get their wok done. If students are more comfortable then they will be more motivated to accomplish their goals. Right now my students only sit at a desk and I am hoping that they will be more engaged if they have a few options for sitting like flexible floor seats and balls. Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them. The better motivated they are, the better they can learn!
