The use of Chromebooks in the classroom is extremely beneficial to students learning a second language. Having a Chromebook cart easily accessible in the classroom allows students to use various resources to learn about culture while practicing the target language. We are in a day and age where technology engulfs the minds of our students every day, and I want to be sure they know that they can learn and experience anything virtually.
By having the Chromebooks station in the classroom, students will have a greater opportunity to see, hear, and speak the language and experience the culture through means that are much more beneficial than a lecture or article. Students will be able to use resources such as Voki, Google Voice, and Duolingo. We will be able to use Skype and websites such as that to communicate with students abroad. Students can experience virtual tours, practice written and oral communication, and grasp the necessary lessons of culture and language through a virtual means.
In addition to benefiting the foreign language classroom, interaction with technology at any level and in any classroom can benefit a student who is growing up in a technology literate world.
