My kids are Title 1 students living in a very low socioeconomic area inside of Salt Lake City. While these kids have a lot of heart and most have parents wanting to support, they don't have the mental awareness to understand perseverance, self motivation, positive thinking, and facing challenges with pride rather than giving up when things get tough.
My students dream of going to college but they really don't have the mental skills yet that would get them there. Teaching these skills takes great work and a lot of resources. These Growth Mindset picture books will help introduce those skills in a fun way, yet get across that hard work, making mistakes, being motivated, and overcoming challenges are all a part of success!
